Allianz, headquartered in Munich, Germany, was founded in 1890 in Berlin & Munich and created Allianz AG in 1985 in order to become an international insurer by merging with various others over the coming years. Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty was formed from the merger of Allianz Global Risks and Allianz Marine & Aviation beginning in November 2005 and was launched as a wholly owned entity of Allianz SE.

With nearly 155,000 employees worldwide, the Allianz Group serves approximately 75 million customers in approximately 70 countries. On the insurance side, Allianz is the market leader in the German market and has a strong international presence. They manage more than 1,000 International Insurance Programs containing over 7,000 corporate client policies.
